*Note: Salaries are adjusted each year by the State Board of Regents to maintain a level competitive with other programs yearly. Salaries shown are for the 2009-2010 Academic Year. 

In addition, Florida does not have a State Income Tax.

Resident Educational Allowance:

  • This allowance may be used for educational purposes including conference expenses, textbooks, journals, or research related expenses. Each resident receives $1,200 over the three year residency.

Leaves:

  • Vacation: Three weeks paid vacation per year. In addition, all housestaff 
    have five days during Christmas or New Year holiday.
  • Sick Leave: Ten days per year.

Memberships:

  • American Academy of Pediatrics
  • Pediatric Review and Educational Program (PREP)

Intern Orientation:

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, and orientation lectures are included during the week long orientation. Incoming residents are provided opportunities to get to know each other and other residents, faculty physicians, and staff members of the hospital.

Resident Retreat:

  • The Program sponsors a weekend retreat for all residents in the fall.  There are organized team building and social events for residents and families. Call during this event is covered by the faculty.

Programmatic Extramural Employment (moonlighting):

  • Available to PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents in the Pediatric ER and on the pediatric / neonatal transport team with the approval of the Program Director.

Assorted:

  • Meal tickets are provided during in-house on-call nights and weekends and required conferences
  • USMLE Step III registration fees.
  • When feasible, State of Florida licensure application process and fees.
  • Lab coats, business cards, alpha-numeric beepers, and free parking.
